Can you turn a Matterport scan into a VPS map?

Yes. Export E57 or MatterPak from your Matterport space and upload it. MultiSet builds a 6-DoF localization map that apps and robots query for their exact position, rather than a walkthrough to look at.

Which Matterport export should I use, E57 or MatterPak?

Either works. E57 is the registered point cloud and is the more common export. MatterPak is the bundle that includes the mesh. If your workflow already produces one of them, use that one rather than adding a second export step.

Do I need to rescan the space?

No, and that is the point. A space scanned last year becomes a localization map without anyone going back to the building. On live sites that matters more than cost, because booking a capture crew into an operating facility is a scheduling and access problem before it is a budget one.

Does it work with Pro3, Pro2 and phone captures?

Yes, because the input is the export rather than the device. Pro3 captures with LiDAR and covers indoor and outdoor. Pro2 and phone captures are indoor. Denser, better-lit captures produce better maps, but all three export into formats MultiSet accepts.

Can I combine a Matterport map with my other scans?

Yes. MapSet stitches maps from different capture types into one coordinate system. Mix Matterport, E57, LiDAR, 360 video and Gaussian splats across floors and buildings, and devices localize continuously across all of them.

How accurate is VPS from a Matterport scan?
